Donate now to fund PDT research

Our 'General Fund' gives you the opportunity to invest in the future of PDT - new ground-breaking research amd treatments that will change the lives of millions.

For example, there is the possibility that PDT could one day be able to treat leukaemia. But months and even years before the first patient can receive the PDT treatment, research teams have to understand the biology of how the use of drug and light can combine to produce the best outcome.

The new PDT trial for breast cancer being started now has been the subject of this detailed work, and has required thousands of pounds of painstaking research by dedicated professionals.

Experience gained treating one type of cancer can be used to undertake trials in another - such as with the new trial planned for throat cancer. PDT is already approved and in use for mouth cancer and Barrett's Oesophagus. The combined knowledge and experience is vital.

It is also vital that a UK-wide team of experts can be funded to step up the pace of these early developments, with the charity needing to fund the salaries of physicists and others who are experts in the setting up and running of clinical trials.

We have capped this annual budget at £200,000 that will fund the people around the UK who can deliver the essential pre-trial research.

Yet again, we are totally transparent about where YOUR money is being used. We hope you will approve.
